Introduction
Hi my name is Lilly! I am an LDS wedding photographer of about 2 years and currently located in Southern Utah. My photography journey began in middle school when my grandparents let me borrow their DSLR camera while serving a church mission in the Philippines. I would take pictures of nature here and there, but my passion didn't start until high school when I joined the girl's lacrosse team and wanted to document our season.
Niche Selection
I had the hardest time deciding which type of photography I wanted to focus my business on. I had tons of sports experience, but more than anything I wanted to be apart of weddings. That craving only increased when I got married in the LDS Bountiful Temple the summer of 2026. I remember distinctly wishing there were two of me so I could photograph my own wedding haha.
Why LDS Weddings?
When I started my search for a photographer for my own wedding, it was really important for me to find someone who was an active member of the Church and had a full understanding of the culture and expectations of LDS weddings. Majority of Utah photographers are familiar with temple weddings, but I really wanted to work with someone who gets it. After many hours of searching I was disappointed to find that barely any photographers marketed themselves specifically as an LDS wedding photographer. Let alone being an active member of the church. I ended up hiring a girl I knew from high school, mostly because I knew she was an active member who had also been recently married in the temple.
As I began to curate my photography business for weddings, it was really important to me that my followers knew I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I had gotten married in the temple, and I had a deep understanding of the culture and expectations of LDS weddings.
Religious Hate
The internet has never been a pure place of peace and unity, so as you can imagine, every post I make that has some sort of connection to the church is filled with comments from negative people who are trying to spread rumors. It breaks my heart that some people go to such extensive lengths to tear down others faith and values.
What About Civil Ceremonies?
I love wedding photography, and any day I can do it is a happy day. Therefore if a couple hires me solely for a civil ceremony, I will be over the moon excited!! Although I have less experience with these types of weddings, I would love to learn more and expand my portfolio.
What's Next?
My husband and I are currently living in Southern Utah finishing up our bachelor's degrees before moving somewhere new. I have no idea where I'll be located a year from now, but what I do know is I want to continue marketing to LDS couples. even though that demographic in other states is significantly smaller.
